Latest PhD's in ALICE

We would like to congratulate some young members of the collaboration who recently completed their PhD studies.

In April, Jianhui Zhu received a PhD degree by the Central Normal China University, Wuhan (China), and the Institute Mines-Telecom (IMT) Atlantique of the Universit? Bretagne Loire, Nantes (France), defending a thesis on W boson measurements in the muonic channel at forward rapidity. Besides pursuing research in this field under the guidance of Dr. Gin?s Mart?nez, Dr. Diego Stocco and Prof. Daicui Zhou, he worked on the quality assurance of the ALICE muon arm data.

Greeshma Koyithatta Meethaleveedu, from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai (India), completed his PhD last June. Under the supervision of Dr. Raghava Varma, he studied the path-length dependence of parton energy loss in the deconfined medium created at the LHC.

At the end of June, Somnath Kar, from the Homi Bhabha National Institute (India), received his PhD degree as well, defending a thesis on measurements of the angular correlations between D meson and charged particles in p–Pb collisions. His research was supervised by Dr. Premomoy Ghosh. Kar also contributed to the work on the high-level quality assurance of heavy flavour electrons in data and Monte Carlo simulations.

We wish them a successful continuation of their scientific career.
